At first we were devastated when our long-loved neighbors, Barry, Becky & Darcy Zembower, moved out of their house on Oakmont Ave (kitty corner from us). Our sadness was quickly relieved when "Arnie" and Scott Taylor became our instant new friends. Arnie made me laugh until I cried. Whenever I watch a Melissa McCarthy movie I think of her marvelous sense of humor. We played kick-the-can in their back-yard on summer nights till I peed my pants. I loved the shade of lavender in Arnie's room, sharing adventures in Nagel's woods and down at the Lake. Those, most definitely, were the good old days! At present I can clearly understand how much she will be missed by all her family and friends. So ...very sorry for your loss!Read more

I always admired her. She was one of the only teachers that most students respected, even the 6 foot tall football players. She may have had a short stature, but nobody wanted on Mrs. A. Bakers bad side! She was quick to let the troublemakers know it wasn't going down in her classroom. She was an excellent teacher!

So sorry to hear of Arlene's passing. She was an inspiration. She was my high school English and literature teacher, ( Conneaut Valley). She always had a way with making you do your very best, never once put you down or made you feel stupid. She made everyone's individual education a priority. She once told me it was a reflection of her teaching skills. She loved her job and the children she taught. The educational World lost a wonderful teacher / we lost a good friend. Words alone cannot express my sorrow . My prayers and thoughts are with her family. God bless -

Arlene was such a burst of sunshine. She didn't let her students get one over on her. I enjoyed her presence when she taught at Conneaut Lake. Although I didn't have her as a teacher, I was still able to interact with her in the office. She will be sadly missed

I thought of her often and remember her always telling me my brain was faster than my writing because I skipped words. She was an amazing inspiration to me and so many others. May the light of the Lord shine upon her, rest easy Mrs. Baker, job well done!

The first day I walked into my 7th grade English class Mrs. Baker made such a powerful artistic impression that I have never forgotten it - or her. She was so interesting, theatrical and fascinating that I attribute her and her wonderful skills as a creative teacher/person to my becoming an actress and a proud SAG-AFTRA member. She was an inspiration at a very young age and I am so very sorry to hear of her passing. My prayers go out to her family.

Mrs. Baker was my favorite teacher. As her student she saw my grief when I lost my father. It is through writing that I was able to express and release my pain. She was the angel that I needed that year. I'm not sure what I would have done without her. There are no words that can explain how the world is a little less without her. Celebrate the joys of the Lord my dear teacher. Until we meet again.

You were an incredible teacher. You gave me confidence that carried me throughout my life. In fact I was just remembering how you used to teach literature and the way you would read a story and make me feel as if I was in the actual story. You gave me such a gift, and I will always be grateful for that. Rest in peace Mrs. Baker. CVHS class of 1992
