Charlene D. Burkholder, 60, of Erie, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 8, 2018, surrounded by her loved ones at the Cleveland Clinic. She was born in Erie, December 9, 1957, a daughter of Helen (Bierbauer) Heubel Trask of Erie and the late Edward Heubel.
Charlene graduated St. Benedict Academy and was an active parishioner of St. Luke Church, as well as their Business Manager. She loved her family, camp, the houseboat, being outdoors in the sunshine, and all the little things in life that so many people take for granted. She lived life in the moment, never letting one bit of potential happiness slip past. The epitome of what a mother should be-- a truly selfless, patient, understanding, compassionate wife, friend and family member. A person who made others better just for knowing her. To those who knew Char well, she was more than human, she was an angel on Earth.
Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Michael C. Burkholder; children, Nicholas Burkholder and fiancé Alison Waltier, Laura (Burkholder) Severo and husband Jimmy; brothers Edward Heubel (wife Janet), and Gary Heubel; sisters Kathleen Volgstadt (late husband Richard) and Barbara Paszkowski (husband Thomas), many nieces, nephews, and family pets.
Friends may call at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, Pine Avenue Branch, 845 East 38 St., Erie, this Sunday, March 11th from 1 to 6 p.m. and may attend services there on Monday, March 12th at 10 a.m., with Rev. John Malthaner officiating. Burial with loved ones at Laurel Hill Cemetery to follow.
Flower donations (she loved daisies) will be gratefully accepted. Memorials may also be made in Char's name to Cleveland Clinic for uterine cancer research.
Condolences may be expressed at www.bruggerfuneralhomes.com.
