Charles E. "Chuck" Leffingwell, 86 of Girard, passed away on Monday, June 4, 2018 at Pleasant Ridge Manor, surrounded by his family.
He was born February 7, 1932 in Meadville, a son of the late Charles and Blanche (Guenther) Leffingwell.
Chuck graduated from Meadville High School in 1950. Following high school he enlisted in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He served aboard the USS St. Paul (CV-73). He was awarded the China Service Medal, The Korean Service Medal, The United Nations Service Medal, The Navy Occupation Service Medal and The National Defense Service Medal. Upon his honorable discharge from the US Navy he began working for Anson Tool & Die in Erie, later working for Reddog Tool & Die (Now PHB Die Cast) in Girard for many years, retiring in 1995.
During his retirement years he loved working with wood, building cabinets and projects for family, friends and his church.
He was a member of the Girard Presbyterian Church, where he was a former Deacon, a member of the Erie County Koinonia #37, the Girard American Legion Post #494 and loved playing as much golf as he could. He played at Elk Valley Golf Course with two leagues and also a couple's league.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Martha Rudler and Shirley Leffingwell and two brothers, Marshall and Donald Leffingwell.
He will be greatly missed by his family, which includes his wife, Carole (Wedsworth) Leffingwell, whom he married, May 27, 1977 in Fairview; a daughter, Peggy Kuzma; a step daughter, Patricia Mikovich (John); two step sons, Robert Cartmell (Jill), John Cartmell (Barbara); a sister, Jean Rhodes; two brothers, Robert Leffingwell and William Leffingwell (Dorothy); grandchildren, Allison Brocious (Clay), Stephen Crowl (Jenifer), Charles Crowl (Rachel), Jennifer Fails (Tim), and Matthew Mikovich (Aimee); ten great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.at Edder Funeral Home Inc., 309 Main St. East, Girard and are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Service on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Girard Presbyterian Church 260 Main St. East, Girard.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Girard Presbyterian Church.
