Clifford C. Gongaware

June 24, 1948 - December 21, 2018

Clifford C. Gongaware GULNARE, Colorado
Clifford C. Gongaware, 70, of Gulnare, CO, died unexpectedly on December 21, 2018, during the early evening hours on the first day of winter. He was the best of men. His careers were those of service - as an MP in the army during the Vietnam War, as an explosives and hazardous materials technician and K-9 officer of the El Paso Police Department, and as a UN Peacekeeper in Bosnia, Kosovo, and in East Timor. He believed in honesty, integrity, and loyalty.
He was fiercely loved, and he will be missed by his wife, daughters, grandchildren and sisters, extended family, and friends and colleagues from all over the globe. The world is poorer for his absence.
Born on June 24, 1948, in Meadville, PA., he was the youngest child of Gilbert and Frances O'Bot Gongaware.
He is survived by three sisters - Maxine Kuntz of Saegertown, PA, Jacqueline Briggs and her husband, Rodney, and Paula Byler and her husband, Jacob all of Meadville, PA; three sisters-in-law, Helga Gongaware of Lubbock, TX, Carol Gongaware of Cochranton, PA, and Therese Gongaware of Winterhaven, FL. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and 6 brothers; Lowell Grant Gongaware, who died in infancy, Gilbert G. Gongaware and his wife, Janet Gongaware, Gary G. Gongaware, Eugene E. Gongaware, Jerry J. Gongaware, Barton B. Gongaware; and brother-in-law, Ronald C. Kuntz.
If you ever want to find Cliff's spirit, you need only grab a cup of coffee and a rocking chair from which to watch the sun rise over the trees. He will be right beside you.
Per his request, there will be no service. His ashes will be scattered in the forest on the land he worked so hard to care for in his retirement years. In lieu of flowers, please plant a tree in Cliff's name.

He was my BEST friend, and I am going to miss him dearly. We hunted together for over 30 years, and we laughed and cried and rejoiced together. He never did really learn how to play poker; that is my story and I'm sticking to it. I loved him like a brother. Clif, I will see you over Jordan. You and Gene get the fire started and I'll do the cooking, as usual.
Therese GONGAWARE Nip will be dearly missed my most sincere condolence to Cindy and family.

I am so very sorry to hear of the sudden passing of such a wonderful, kind and genuine man! We were fellow classmates and friends at SHS and attended the senior prom together! He will be missed for sure!

Sincere sympathy to all of you. I remember Cliff from high school- always polite and kind. It sounds like he made a huge difference in this world and you lost him way too soon.
