David Lee Shilling, 78, of Tequesta, FL, passed away on August 26, 2017. Born on December 22, 1938 in Meadville, PA to Robert T. and Jeanette Shilling. Dave was a graduate of Meadville High School. He served our country as a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, where he worked as a flight crew chief on Marine One, primarily under President John F. Kennedy, receiving a White House Service Certificate and Badge for his loyal service. Following his military career, Dave worked as a service technician for 3M Company for 30 years while residing in Meadville, PA, Oil City, PA and Cuba, NY. He was an avid fisherman for many years. In retirement, he moved to Florida and enjoyed cherished time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a humorous, kind, and loving soul who always had time to share a conversation.
Dave is preceded in death by his parents and his great granddaughters, Evelyn and Ainsley. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Shirley Shilling; his son, David, Jr. (Renee); daughters, Pamela Watkins (James), Laura Moore (Joseph), and Susan Taylor (Michael Woodward); grandchildren, Sean, Jason, Jennifer, Seth, Valerie, Michaela, Mallory, Stephanie, Scott, Josh, and Michael Kyle; his sister, Anne Bish (Charles); his siblings in law, Bill Searls (Barbara), Linda Hines, and Debbie Dewey (Henry); eighteen great grandchildren; numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family; and countless friends.
Dave will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him. He died as he lived - everyone's friend.
The family has planned a memorial service with military honors to celebrate Dave's abundant life on September 24, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at Three Blessings, 49410 McCoy Ave., East Liverpool, Ohio.
