Dorothy Irene Billings née Cushing went to live among the angels on January 23, 2017. She was 96 years old. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at the First United Presbyterian Church of Edinboro on July 10, 2017 at 1:00pm.
She was raised in Brady Township. Dorothy married Roscoe Billings in 1944 and moved to Edinboro as an Army bride, where she was surrounded by his loving family while he was at war. After raising their two children, she graduated from Edinboro College at the age of 44 to fulfill a longtime dream of becoming a teacher. She taught high school English in Saegertown until she retired. She and Roscoe were also missionaries, and spent time living as faithful volunteers in Ethiopia and on the Hopi Reservation in Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988. Dorothy then moved south to be closer to her children. She continued to be active in her church and community wherever she lived.
She is survived by her children, Richard Billings and Pam Carpenter, her grandchildren, Collier Maxwell and Heather Chandler, and great grandson, Jack Chandler. She is also survived by many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She loved them all.
