Elsie J. Shoop, 87, formerly of Blooming Valley and a resident of the Crawford County Care Center died there, Tuesday, November 14, 2017 following a period of declining health.
She was born in Meadville March 27, 1930 a daughter of Nathaniel and Helen Mosier Dahl. She married Charles R. (Pete) Shoop June 30, 1960 and he preceded her in death February 2, 1999.
She was a 1948 graduate of Saegertown High School and worked briefly at the former Westinghouse in Meadville before raising her family. She was a faithful member of Blooming Valley United Methodist Church, was an avid gardener but her grandchildren were her world.
She is survived by two daughters, Jean Shoop and her companion Nathan Blaede, Jr. of Blooming Valley and Kathy Conaway and her husband Jerry of Edinboro; seven grandchildren, Leighan Conti and her husband Mike, Nathan Blaede and his wife Jessica, Courtney Shoop and her fiancée Joe Dille, Kelsey Shoop, Joshua Shoop, Spencer Conaway and Ellie Conaway; two great grandchildren, Brantley and Brody Dille; a sister, Hazel Dahl of Saegertown and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.
Per Elsie's wishes, there will be no calling hours. There will be a private family graveside service in Blooming Valley Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials be made to Blooming Valley United Methodist Church, 24740 State Street, Meadville, PA 16335 or the Crawford County Care Center, 20881 State Hwy 198, Saegertown, PA 16433.
