Emma M. Phelps, age 98 of Mineral, VA and formerly lived in Conneaut Lake, PA and Wilbraham, MA passed away on December 11, 2017 in Louisa, VA
She was born July 11, 1919 in Brownsville, PA the daughter of the late Stephan Fejes and Mary Lengyel Fejes. She married Frederick G. Phelps on July 10, 1943. He preceded her in death on August 25, 2000.
Emma worked during World War II, working as a "Rosie the Riveter" at Talon in Meadville. She was an avid gardener, fisherman, and knitter and loved to read.
She is survived by a son: Steven LeRoy Phelps and his wife Julie, Mineral, VA, three grandchildren: Cynthia Phelps, St. Augustine, FL, Pamela Phelps, Washington, DC and Charles (Chad) Phelps, North Ferrisburgh, VT, a sister: Evelyn Hall, Hadley, PA, her daughter in law: Linda Phelps, Winter Park, FL.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Emma was preceded in death by a son: Frederick George Phelps in August 2001, two brothers: William Fejes, Johnny Fejes and a sister: Jennie Toth.
Services will be private. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Meadville. Memorials can be made to Wilbraham Public Library, large print collection, Wilbraham, MA or Hospice of Piedmont, Charlottesville, VA.
