Fred's Story

Fred P. Hartman, age 73 of Conneaut Lake, formerly of Pittsburgh passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at Meadville Medical Center. He was born on September 18, 1944 to the late Fred Hartman and Irene Mutschler in Pittsburgh. On November 30, 2003 he married his childhood friend, Karen Klinginsmith. She survives.
Fred was a 1962 graduate of St. Wendelin's, he then served in the Air Force, was an expert Marksman and was a cooking instructor. He owned Hartman Music, Inc. and retired in 1991. Fred was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, a member of the Conneaut Ski Club and won several awards in the 1950's and 60's, (He was a world record holder for pyramid skiing), a member of Pumphouse #45, Park Firehall, Station 3 and the Iriquois Club.
In addition to Fred's wife, Karen Hartman of Conneaut Lake, he is survived by five children, Debbie Symsek and husband John of Bethel Park, PA, Michele McManus and husband Dave of Elizabeth, PA, Stacy Hartman-Kostiha and husband Christopher of Huntsburg, OH, Freddy Hartman and wife Dana of Elizabeth, PA and Jim Donnachie and wife Julie of Conneaut Lake, PA. Fred was also survived by many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a brother-in-Law, George Lauman of Conneaut Lake, PA and a cousin, Kenny Coyne of Florida.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Mary Ann Lauman and a daughter, Tammy Johnston.
Calling hours will be on Friday, February 9, 2018 from 4PM until 7PM at Dickson Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 N Second Street, Conneaut Lake. Additional calling will be on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 240 N Third Street, Conneaut Lake, PA 16316 from 10AM until 11AM, followed by his funeral service, officiated by Reverend Jay Sterling.
