Gerald Brown (aka Butch or Brownie), formerly of Centerville, died suddenly on January 18, 2018, at his home in Sun City Center, Florida.
Born December 13, 1942, to Sammie and Mary (Morton) Brown, Gerald grew up on a farm in Brown Hill, the middle of 5 sons. He married Vivian (Laipple) after an Army tour in Korea, and lived one year near Fort Bragg (202 Signal Corps). They then lived in Athens Township, Crawford County, from 1965 to 2013.
He farmed for 10 years, then went to work for Agway in Meadville until a major heart attack in 1997 forced him into disability retirement. After travelling in an RV for 12 years, two serious strokes prompted the Browns' decision to settle in Florida. He departed to be with his Lord after a morning with his horseshoe club. In addition to his wife and two children, Michael (Trudi) and Patricia (David) Folkerts, he is survived by three grandsons Alexander, Philip and Thomas; brothers Elvin (Nancy), Roger (Caroline), Ronald (Mary), and Dale; and 18 nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to Lyona Bible Church in Guys Mills, or Samaritan's Purse.
