Gerald W. Munson Jr., age 83, of Meadville passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at his residence. He was born on June 10, 1934 in Rochester, PA, son of the late Gerald W. Munson and Evelyn Elm Munson. He married Lois Louise Langley on October 3, 1953. She preceded him in death on September 23, 2011.
Jerry graduated from Conneaut Lake High School in 1952. While in school he worked at the Conneaut Lake Navigation Company. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and was a member of the Seabees. Having earned a Quality Engineer Certification from Gannon University, Jerry worked for Saegertown Components, Molded Fiberglass, Meadville Forge, and the Werner Ladder Company where he worked as a Quality Engineer and from where he retired.
Jerry was a member of the Saegertown United Methodist Church for 54 years. He was also a member of the Conneaut Lake Sportsman's Association. He enjoyed fishing, and in 1970 caught a trophy muskie in Conneaut Lake. For sixteen years he and his wife enjoyed traveling in their motor home, and for three years Jerry and his toy poodle, Rascal, offered pet therapy in medical facilities in Meadville and Florida.
Jerry is survived by his son: Mark Munson, wife Paula and their children Alexander and Sarah of Bowling Green, Ohio; his daughter: Karen Munson Hayhurst, husband John and their children Elizabeth, Andrew, Emily, and Katherine of La Crescenta, California; two sisters: Geraldine Pletcher and her husband Gene of Nashville, Tennessee, and Patricia Robertson and her husband James of Greenville; a brother-in-law: Lee Langley and his wife Karen of Meadville; a sister-in-law: Jacqueline Bish of Kittanning; cousins-in-law: Loeta and Jerry Derby of Meadville, Rosalyn and Donald Peterson of Conneaut Lake, and Linda and Jim Green of Erie; and his poodle Rascal. Jerry is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Janet Crossman and her husband Paul.
