Helen Marie Cropp, 95, of Meadville, died at home Tuesday, October 31, 2017. She was born in Pittsburgh December 9, 1921 a daughter of Robert G. and Myrtle Eckert Woodburn. She first married Thomas J. Whalen, Sr. and subsequently married David I. Cropp April 6, 1975 and he preceded her in death February 20, 2000.
She was a graduate of East Fallowfield High School. She enjoyed golf, spending winters in Tavares, FL and was an avid Pittsburgh Pirate and Steelers fan. She also was a former member of the Golden Triangle Grange in Tavares, FL.
She is survived by a son James M. Whalen and his partner Lisa Basile of Australia; three grandchildren, Thomas J. Whalen III and his wife Jessica of Meadville, Kimberly Curnutt and her husband Jeff of Meadville and Ryan Whalen and his wife Jenny of Gilbert, AZ; seven great grandchildren, Christopher, Bryant, Nathan, Evan, Owen, Alyssa and Erica; a nephew, Lloyd Harris of Long Island, NY and a daughter-in-law, Karen Whalen of Meadville.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Thomas J. Whalen, Jr.; a step-daughter, Billie Allan; a step-son, Jack Cropp; two sisters, Olive Parlick and Florence Harris and two brothers, William Woodburn and John Woodburn.
Calling hours will be Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.
The funeral service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Sarah Roncolato, Pastor of Stone United Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment will be in Saegertown Cemetery.
