James Martin Hoover, 86, of Conneautville passed away Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Meadville Medical Center.
He was born March 25, 1931 in Pierpont, Ohio to the late Howard and Allie (Wilson) Hoover. He married Geraldine Baker on May 4, 1951, who preceded him in death on June 26, 2016.
Jim worked for Penn Furniture for nearly 30 years and as a supervisor for the last 20. He and his late wife also owned and operated Hoover Lumber Company where he worked hard all his life. In his younger years he enjoyed traveling with his wife, Jerry. He and good friend Fritz Orr were always excited to tell the story of golfing in Scotland's finest golf course "St. Andrews Golf Course". He loved going to football games and despite being an avid Browns fan he attended the first four Steeler Super Bowls. He also loved to see his grandchildren and great grandchildren's sporting events.
He is survived by three sons, James A. (Nancy) Hoover of Conneautville, Michael (Christy) Hoover of Conneautville and Ronald Hoover of Conneautville, six grandchildren, Scott (Trisha), Andy (Sarah), Allison, Jenny (Anthony), Kelly (Jeremiah), and Chris, 20 great-grandchildren, a brother Robert Hoover, sisters-in-law Rose Hoover and Sandy Artman, and a brother-in-law James Baker.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a daughter-in-law Patricia Hoover, a brother Wilson, and a sister Vivian Bowen.
Friends and family are invited to call on Monday, September 18, 2017, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at McCauley Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 6:00. Pastor Marshall Lillie will officiate. Interment will be private.All arrangements have been entrusted to McCauley Funeral Home, 1405 Main St. Conneautville, PA 16406.
