James A. Stanford

James A. Stanford, age 87, of Cambridge Springs, passed away August 15, 2019 at Wesbury Retirement Community. He was born on April 17, 1932 to the late Fay and Marie (Dunlap) Stanford.
James married Eileen Heine on March 14, 1968. She survives.
He attended Meadville High School and graduated in 1949. He served in the US Army from June 1949- June 1969 as a Special Forces Green Beret'. He was also a member of the Cambridge Springs American Legion.
He is survived by his wife; son Jimmy and wife, Jean of Taladega, AL; grandchildren, Marie Stanford and Jim Stanford; and three great grandchildren.
Per James' request, there will be no services. A memorial dinner will be held at a later date.

Jim Stanford served our country in three wars. The last was in Vietnam in the Tet Offensive directly under General Westmoreland with the Special Forces Green Beret. A highly
decorated veteran, Jim had seen more war monstrosities than any one person should have witnessed. Still he had a sweet spirit and a marvelous sense of humor... a hero in
every sense of the word. His wife Eileen took loving impeccable care of Jim right to the very end. Rest easy Jim, rest easy.
