James's Story

James Albert Weiland, age 75, of Meadville, passed away on July 16, 2017 at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community after a brief illness.
He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on January 2, 1942, the son of the late Marie M. Consla (Weiland).
He graduated from Saint Agatha High School and completed one year of business college at Gannon University. He was a successful and innovative business owner, having owned and operated several businesses throughout his life. His final business venture was Fire Services, an insurance restoration company, which he operated for over twenty years. He enjoyed traveling, was an avid race enthusiast, and he found great joy in spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren and his friends at the Hunting & Fishing Club. He will be remembered for his carefree spirit and love for an adventure.
He is survived by three sons, J. Christopher Weiland of Conneaut Lake, PA, Jason Weiland of New Jersey, Johnathan Weiland (Dana) of Pittsburgh, PA; a daughter, Michelle Alaskey (Tim) of Warren, PA; five grandchildren, Breanna Weiland, Jason Weiland, Catellina Weiland, JoElla Alaskey and Cecelia Alaskey. He is preceded in death by his mother, six uncles and three aunts.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, July 19 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Dickson Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 130 North Second Street, Conneaut Lake, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on July 20 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady Queen of the Americas Church, 155 South Ninth Street, Conneaut Lake, PA. Burial will follow at Our Lady Queen of the Americas Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Our Lady Queen of the Americas Funeral Fund.
