Laura R. Johnson, 81, formerly of Saegertown, passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at the home of her daughter in Guys Mills. Born, November 14, 1935 in Meadville, she was the daughter of Fredrick and Jenny Toppo Blyler. She married Sylvestor (Tally) Dennis on May 27, 1952 and he preceded her in death in 1964. In 1966 she married Ronald A. Johnson and he also preceded her in death.
She attended Meadville High School and drove school bus for Clair J. Ferry Company in Saegertown and later for Penncrest School District.
Laura attended St. Bernadette's Catholic Church in Saegertown and for the past 2 years the Sugar Lake Methodist Church.
No one to lay idle, she enjoyed bowling, playing cards, especially euchre, cooking, camping, golfing and until last year, hunting. Family and friends were dear to Laura as was watching Nascar with her son in law. She was also a member of the Meadville Eagles and the oldest female shuffleboard player, playing for UD's Tavern, for over 12 years.
Survivors include her children, Terry Dennis and his companion Judy Chapman of Saegertown, Linda Brown and her husband Mike of Guys Mills and a son Kurt Johnson and his wife Barbie of Erie. Ten grandchildren, Dusty Ervin, Ryan Brown, Erin Milem and her husband Jeff, Terra Durham and her husband Jeff, Tally Dennis, Timber Dennis, Amanda Johnson, Claire Johnson and Kurt Johnson, Jr. Seven great grandchildren, Brock and Paige Durham, Philip Milem, Brooklyn Brown, and Torun, Tavin and Tenly Dennis.
In addition to both husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, David Ervin.
As per her request, there will be no calling hours and a private funeral service at the DICKSON FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, INC., 123 S. Franklin St., Cochranton, with the Rev. Frank Weingard, officiating. Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.
