Margaret Lucille Hayes Styborski

Margaret "Peggy" Lucille Hayes Styborski, 94, joined her husband, Mack, in eternal rest in heaven on May 5, 2019, after a long and well-lived life. Peg was born on April 11, 1925, on her grandmother's farm in Cussewago Township, the daughter of the late John Newell and Myrtle Hayes. Later as a young woman seeking her independence, she relocated to Cambridge Springs. Following her marriage to Mack Styborski on August 4, 1945, she lived the remainder of her life in Cambridge Springs. During World War II, she worked at the Carnation Company to do her part to assist the war effort while Mack was stationed abroad. When the war ended, Peg and Mack settled into their first home to raise their family. Eventually, they relocated to a country home in Cambridge they had built themselves - lovingly referred to as the farm. Peg was employed at Saegertown Components, Alliance College and the Edinboro Inn working well into her seventies.
Peg enjoyed so many things in her long life. She was fond of gardening and was well-known for her green thumb. She enjoyed crafting, crocheting, decorating, bingo, bowling, traveling, and spending time with her friends. From road trips with friends in her younger days to quick jaunts to the casino, Peg loved a good adventure. However, what Peg loved most was her family. She reveled in family gatherings, especially when all her brood could be together. She grew in pride and happiness with every wedding and birth of each new grandchild and great-grandchild.
Peg was preceded in death by her husband, Mack Styborski, and daughter-in-law, Robin Styborski.
She leaves behind four children to cherish her memory with many stories to tell: son, James (Marilyn) Styborski of Edinboro; daughter, Carol Trzaski of Waterbury, CT; son, Thomas Styborski of Union Mills, IN; and daughter, Joanne (Lane) Estes of Wattsburg, PA. Additionally missing her will be eight grandchildren: Michelle (John) Brennan, Julie Trzaski, Traci (Tobey) Nehl, Stephanie Estes, Mindy (Kurt) Nuber, Thomas (Heather) Styborski Jr., Kristina (Cain) Sonney, and Randy (Kayli) Styborski. Lucky enough to get to know their Babcia, are fifteen great-grandchildren who will also remember her kindness and generosity: Mack, Natalie and Lauren Brennan, Sarah Galloway, Michael and Isabella Marzano, Carly and Dani Nehl, Hayden and Dylan Nuber, Gracie Thomas, Amelia and Willa Sonney, and Parker and Remi Styborski. She also leaves behind her beloved dog and companion, Buffy.
Friends and family may call at the Van Matre Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs on Wednesday, May 8, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, May 9, at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Cambridge Springs with the Rev. Father Mark Nowak as celebrant. Interment will be in Cambridge Cemetery. To send condolences, please visit
