Mary E. Royer, age 85, of Meadville, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at the Crawford County Care Center.
She was born August 5, 1932 in Cambridge Springs, PA the daughter of the late Edson Terrell and Dorothy Gehr Terrell. She married Frank W. Royer on June 4, 1955. He preceded her in death on January 7th, 1999.
Mary was a 1950 graduate of Cambridge Springs High School. She retired as a Police Communications Operator from the Pennsylvania State Police Troop E, Barracks after 18 years of service. She was a member of the St. Paul's Reformed Church, Meadville. Mary loved spending time at the beach. She and her husband Frank retired to Oak Island, NC in 1994 and Mary lived there until 2004 when she moved back to Meadville to be closer to her family. Mary also loved gardening, traveling and her cats. She especially loved spending time with her family.
Mary was given her family nickname "Birdie" by her eldest brother Howard when he rocked her as an infant and thought she looked just like a baby bird.
Mary is survived by a daughter; Beth M. Forbes and her husband Mike of Meadville, two sons: Scott W. Royer and his wife Robin of Meadville and Craig A. Royer and his wife Debbie of Spring Hope, NC, two grandchildren: Jaime Royer and her companion, Dave of Camp Hill, PA and Dan Royer of Meadville, a great-grandson; Trey Royer of Pittsburgh, two brothers: Howard Terrell of Howe, IN and Larry Terrell of Buda, TX. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mary was preceded in death by three brothers: Merritt Terrill, Robert Terrell and Richard Terrell and by a sister: Aletha Hood.
On Sunday, February 11th, a Celebration of Life service will be held after the 10:45 morning church service starting at noon at the St. Paul's Reformed Church, 1070 Park Avenue, Meadville, PA, with Pastor Brian Hasenkopf, officiating.
