Melvin Earl Nolf Jr., age 76, of Meadville passed away on Friday, June 2, 2017 at his residence.
He was born September 25, 1940, in Mayport, PA. The son of Melvin Earl Nolf and Mary Elizabeth Doverspike (Nolf). They both preceded Melvin in death.
Melvin served four years in the United States Navy; he served aboard a Navy destroyer during the Cuban Missile Crisis. His military service was from 1960 through 1964.
He worked at the Avtex Plant, in Meadville, from 1965 to 1974; he was a dairy farmer from 1974 until 1984, and worked for COBA/select sires, as an A. I. Technician for seven years.
Melvin was a firefighter-member of the East Mead Volunteer Fire Department since 1984, and served as Chief from 1993 through 2003. He was the manager of Star Route Estates Mobile Home Park since 1993.
Melvin was preceded in death in addition to his maternal and paternal grandparents, and parents, by a daughter Jennifer (the daughter of Melvin and Jodi Dart- his companion for many years).
Melvin is survived by: Sandie Neiswonger (Nolf) who married Melvin on March 30, 1965; his companion of many years Jodi Dart of Meadville, and his beloved dog Shoot.
Also surviving are Sandie and Melvin's children: Jackie Hoover and her companion Bob Hanna of Meadville; Tammy Martone and her husband Rick of Guys Mills; and Steven E. Nolf and his wife Shannon of Meadville, and Jodi and Melvin's son Christopher C. Nolf of Meadville. Eight grandchildren survive: Shane Hoover and his wife Lyndsey of Saegertown, Jason Hoover of Meadville, Nicole Hoover of Saegertown, Zac Nolf of Venango, Justin , Devin, and Jonathan Bach of Guys Mills, and Riley Nolf of Meadville. A brother Stanley Nolf and his companion Linda of Bedford as well as 6 sisters: Judy ( Dean) Spencer of Guys Mills, Stella Woods of New Bethlehem, Dorothy (Leroy) Nolf of McDonald, Ohio, Jane (Richard ) Tkach of Guys Mills, Donna (Kermit) Dennis of Guys Mills and Sandy (Jack) Fruncek of Punxsutawney.
The balance of survivors includes many nieces and nephews, aunts and cousins.
Family and friends are welcome to call on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 from 3 to 6 PM and on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 from 6 to 9 PM, with the funeral service to take place on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 1PM at the Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home & Crematory, 614 Baldwin Street, Meadville, PA 16335. With Pastor Alice McClymonds officiating. Interment will be at Blooming Valley Cemetery
