Norma Jean Adams, 78, of Cochranton died Friday, January 5, 2018 at the Meadville Medical Center. Born, March 30, 1939 in Utica, she was the daughter of Williard A. and Mayme I. Artlip Babbitt.
She was a 1957 graduate of Cochranton High School, ran the Fannie Farmer Candies, operated the Open Door Restaurant in Rochester New York and worked at the former Avtex Plant in Meadville. She also worked for 25 years at PPG in Greenwood Township.
Following her retirement, she worked for the ARC of Crawford County and also was known as the "Grandma Norma" in the cafeteria at the Cochranton Elementary School and the Sonlight Day Care Center.
She was a member of the Cochranton Fire Department Station #4, a 4H Leader for several years, former Cub Scout Mother, and a member of the Wyndmore Club.
Her hobbies included swimming, growing flowers, quilting, but most of all being a grandma and great grandma.
Survivors include her children, Bruce Babbitt and his wife Lori of Elizabethtown, KY, Jeffrey Harman of Massachusetts, Greg Harman and his wife Cecilia of Connecticut, Randy Harman of Florida, Steven Adams of Guys Mills, Jack Adams of Meadville, and Michael Adams and his wife Kim of Cochranton. A sister, Sondra Mulhollen and her husband Don of Tallmadge, OH, and a brother, Jerry Babbitt and his wife Vickie of Cochranton. Grandchildren, Mick, Casey and Cole Adams, Max, Jackson and Justin Adams, Clay and Louisa Harmon, Joe Hannan and Josh Dennis, and 4 great grandchildren, Declan and Lillian Adams and Ariana and Jayden Hannan. Also, her extended family, Bernadette and Jack Adams Sr., Nancy Adams, Cathy Robert, Carolyn Unger and Brenda Greene.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers Bruce and Donald Babbitt and two sisters, Delores Sopic and Marsha Darr.
Friends and family will be received at the DICKSON FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, INC., 123 S. Franklin St., Cochranton on Monday, January 8th from 4:00pm until 7:00pm when the Rev. David Brumagin will lead a celebration of life service for Norma.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that memorials be made in Norma's name to the Wynmore Club, C/O Helen Jones, 104 Jones Road, 13 Blair Lane, Cochranton, PA 16314.
