Norman "Poppy"'s Story
Norman "Poppy" E. Pierce, 86, of 218 Chestnut St., Apt. 315, Meadville, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Marquette Hospice House, Meadville.
Norman was born in Geneva, OH on October 6, 1930, a son of the late Earl Caskey and Margaret (Swavey) Pierce.
He was attending Wadsworth Avenue Evangelical Church, Meadville.
On August 5, 1950 Norman married Helen S. Carpenter; she survives.
After 15 years of service, Norman retired in 1995 from Leech Tool and Die where he had been employed in the Shipping and Receiving Dept. He attended schools in Buffalo, NY and Meadville.
In addition to his wife, Helen of 66 years, Norman is survived by two daughters Susan Holmberg of Meadville, Diann Mailliard and her husband William of Guys Mills, three sons David Pierce and his wife Toni of Meadville, Daniel Pierce of Guys Mills, Kevin Pierce of Mercer, 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, a brother Noel Pierce and his wife Nancy of Meadville.
In addition to his parents, Norman was preceded in death by a son, Keith Louis Pierce.
Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, June 15, 2017 from 1-4 at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where a Memorial Service will be held AT 4:00 PM with Pastor Bill Wisniewski of Wadsworth Avenue Evangelical Church officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Marquette Hospice House, C/O Hospice of Crawford County, 766 Liberty St., Meadville, PA 16335.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the dedicated nurses and caring staff at Marquette Hospice House who treated them like family. The love and kindness shown will not be forgotten.
