Paul David Kightlinger Jr., 74, of Marion, NC passed away unexpectedly Friday, Dec. 8, 2017, at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals in Asheville, NC.
Paul was born in Meadville, Pa., Nov. 18, 1943, to the late Paul D. Kightlinger and Marion Roae Kightlinger.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Dan Kightlinger; and one sister, Dorthy Cozadd.
He served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army and was a tool and die maker. His real joy, however, was golf. An avid player, he actually achieved a life goal of hitting a hole-in-one. Next to golf, he had a real passion for NASCAR racing.
In addition to many other civic organizations that he was a member of over the years, more recently he was a member of the Marion Moose Lodge. Paul loved his family very much and they returned his love, and all who knew and loved him will miss him deeply.
He leaves behind his wife of 40 years, Sherry Niedermeyer Kightlinger of the home; three children, Pam Erickson (Mark) of Marion, Paula O'Brien (Joe) of Meadville, Pa., and Kurt Kightlinger of Pittsburgh, Pa.; three brothers, Ben Kightlinger (Sandy) of Meadville, Pa., Tom Kightlinger (Carol) of Conneaut Lake, Pa., and Mark Kightlinger (Sheri) of Saegertown, Pa.; a sister, Debbie Waid (Dave) of Cambridge Springs, Pa.; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A service of remembrance will be held at a later date in Pennsylvania. Westmoreland Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
