Richard McCartney, 87 of Cochranton died Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at his residence. Born, June 8, 1930 in Sheakleyville, he was the son of Robert and Twila Free McCartney. He married Barbara Jane Pearce on December 22, 1955 and she survives.
He was a 1947 graduate of Cochranton High School and worked for Clint Brown and Sons and also at Quaker State Oil Company.
Dick was a member of the Milledgeville United Presbyterian Church, the French Creek Valley Equipment Club and the Pioneer Steam and Gas Engine Society. He also enjoyed working on old engines and tractors.
Survivors in addition to his wife of 61 years include two daughters, Lisa Barbour and her husband Jack of Mars and Lindy Sue McCartney of Cochranton. A sister, Beverly Snyder and her husband Donald of Hadley, 4 grandchildren, Andrew Barbour and his wife Stephanie, Lindsay Walters and her husband Matt, Meredith Spada and her husband Eric and Luke Barbour, 5 great grandchildren, Will, Paige and Jay Barbour, Owen Spada and Benjamin Walters. A brother in law, Clint Brown of Guys Mills, several nieces and nephews and the family cat Patches.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Keith McCartney.
As per his wishes no calling hours or services will be held.
