Richard F. Straub, Otter Creek Twp., Greenville passed away at 5:30 am on Monday, September 18, 2017 at his home. He was 81.
Richard was born in Greenville on July 17, 1936 a son of the late Samuel and Alda (Grinnell) Straub. On June 6, 1970 he married the former Virginia M. Thompson who survives. He had been employed by the Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad, retiring in 1996. Richard had lived his entire life at the family homestead where he was born and raised and had farmed the land many years. He was a long time supervisor for Otter Creek Twp., a 60 year member of the Pomona, State, National Grange and locally belonged to the Log Cabin Unity Grange. He was of the Lutheran faith.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Joel R. Straub and his wife Christie of Greenville and Christopher R. Straub and his wife Megan of Greenville. A brother, William R. Straub and his wife Helen of Greenville. 4 grandchildren, Sawyer Straub, Callie Straub, Tucker Straub and Liza Straub all of Greenville.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 169 Second Street, Fredonia with Rev. Dennis Blauser, interim minister of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. The committal service and interment will follow at the Shenango Valley Cemetery.
