Robert "Bob"'s Story
Robert C. "Bob" Peterson, 70 of Sandy Lake, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at home on Friday (1-5-18) at 12:32 AM. He was born on February 4, 1947 to the late Leon Del "Bud" and Lillian Lucille Cauvel Peterson in Meadville. Bob was a 1965 graduate of Cochranton High School and a 1971 graduate of Slippery Rock University with a teaching degree in health and physical education. He worked for a time in the public school system then started his career at Polk Center, having retired in 2007 after 35 years.
He married his beloved wife, Sondra K. Anderson, on April 24, 1976, she survives at home.
Bob loved his sports. After high school he was scouted by the Philadelphia Phillies. He remained dedicated to baseball and continued to coach in Cochranton for many years as well as following all Cochranton Cardinal sports. He was an avid fan of all the Cleveland sports teams. He also enjoyed reading and writing poetry, and being outdoors. He enjoyed music, especially going to rock concerts, a love he shared with his daughter. Above all else Bob was a positive, devoted loving husband and father.
In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his daughter, Lindsay R. Peterson, Sandy Lake, and a sister Ruth Marie Smith, Cochranton.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a sister Beverly Kay Heckathorn, and two brothers, Richard and Ed Peterson.
Memorials may be made in Bob's name to the Lakeview United Methodist Church, PO Box 177, Sandy Lake, PA 16145.
Visitation: 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm Sunday (1-7-18) at the Scott A. Black Funeral Home, 99 Franklin Street, Stoneboro.
Funeral: 11:00 AM Monday (1-8-18) in the funeral home with Reverend Janet R. Pratt, Pastor, United Methodists in Faith, officiating.
