Russell L. Campbell


Russell L. Campbell (Fuzzy/Deacon), 71 of Meadville, PA passed away on February 5, 2019 in a Tampa Florida hospital while on vacation. He was born on June 23, 1947 in Meadville, PA, the son of the late Harry and Ada(Black) Campbell. He married Mary L. Moorehead on November 9, 1974.
Russ was a Vietnam Veteran in the United States Air Force. He was a toolmaker in the area for over 30 years and retired from Leech Tool and Die. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006, American Legion, Elks BPO #219, West Mead II, and Eagles #429.
He enjoyed spending his time golfing and going to the casino. Some of his greatest accomplishments include playing Modified Softball, in 1983 his team McCrackens Beverage won the Class B State Championships. As an accomplished bowler he met his goal of reaching 1 Million pins before he was no longer able to bowl. He loved driving his Corvette so much that he went to the Ron Fellows Performance Driving School Spring Mountain in Pahrump, Nevada in 2018 where he got to drive a Corvette just like his on an actual road course.
Russ is survived by his loving wife Mary of 44 years. Three daughters, Leslie Giebner and Phillip Allan of Meadville, Sherry Foster and Jim Bish of Hamilton, Montana, and Pamela Zakostelecky of Cambridge Springs. Five grandchildren, James D. Zakostelecky, Chelsea Zakostelecky, Dylan Giebner and his wife Alane, Natasha Bennett and Clayton Matthews. One great grandchild Salem Behling, and one sister Donna Campbell Walker. Russ was preceded in death by his parents and brother in law Gordon Walker Sr.. Services will be at the privacy of the family.

Sorry to hear of Russ' passing (My sister sent me the obituary). Russ was a good person and we both bought red Vespa motorscooters while in high school. Glad to see that he moved on to a Corvette. My prayers are with all of his family.
