Sandra Louise Chapin Yeager, 68, of Pine Grove, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012. She was born Sept. 23, 1943, in Franklin, to the late Howard and Susan Rice Chapin. Sandra was the beloved wife of the Rev. Lloyd S. Yeager for 45 years. She, along with her husband, represented and served in Mexico, Ecuador and Colombia for a period of 10 years. She actively assisted her husband in the pastorate of several Evangelical Congregational churches in Pennsylvania: Wiconisco, Reading, Morgantown, Ashland, Allentown, Hazleton and Pine Grove. She was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Congregational Church in Pine Grove. Sandra was a 1961 graduate of Cochranton High School. After high school, she attended God’s Bible School in Cincinnati, Ohio, the former Eastern Pilgrim College in Allentown, Rio Grande Bible Institute in Edinburg, Texas, and Evangelical Seminary in Myerstown. She studied for her teaching degree at Albright College in Reading. Sandra was a substitute teacher at various school districts in Schuylkill County. She taught Spanish at the former Cardinal Brennan High School, Fountain Springs. For 20 years she was a Spanish teacher at Pine Grove Area High School until her retirement in 2006. Sandra enjoyed teaching, traveling, flowers and being with family. She was a people person, for she loved to be around people. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Lisa, wife of Dale Lashley, of York; two sons, Samuel Yeager of Allentown, and Daniel and wife, Jennifer Yeager, of Glen Burnie, Md.; a brother, Ronald Chapin of Meadville; mother-in-law, Hilda Yeager of Tamaqua; four grandchildren, Alexis Lashley and Jordan Lashley, both of York, and Skylar Yeager and Riley Yeager, both of Glen Burnie. A time of celebration of life will be held in Bethesda Evangelical Church in Reedsville, 155 Reedsville Road, Schuylkill Haven, on Saturday at 11 a.m., with Pastors Mark Brooks and Timothy Christman officiating. There will be a viewing on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the H.L. Snyder Funeral Home, Pine Grove, and Saturday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in Bethesda E.C. Church at Reedsville. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family would prefer, in lieu of flowers, donations be given to the Global Ministries of Evangelical Congregational Church, 100 W. Park Ave., Myerstown, Pa. 17067, in her memory.
