Verda Louise Anthony Lasher, age 83, of Venango, PA passed away on Sunday June 4, 2017 at her residence, after a two year bout with cancer.
Verda was born April 15, 1934 in Geneva, PA the daughter of the late Joseph S. Anthony and Myrtle S. Peterson Anthony. She married Paul I. Lasher on August 17, 1956 at her brother Gene Anthony's home in Venango, PA.
Verda graduated from Hadley High School in Hadley, PA. Verda liked to work puzzles, crossword puzzles, picking strawberries and making jam for her grandchildren and other family members to enjoy, too. She especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events and listening to music. Often she was attending her friend's music events and attending country music events at the Wild Country Dance Hall in Saegertown, PA on Thursday evening. Verda was a member of the Venango Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and had served on the Venango Borough Election Board. She was a member of the First Church of God in Cambridge Springs
Surviving Verda is her husband of 60 years, Paul I. Lasher of Venango, her daughter: Sherrie Ann Offi and her husband Martin of Cochranton, PA, three grandchildren: Travis M. Offi, Cassandra A. Offi and Zachary J. Offi all of Cochranton, two brothers: Bruce Dygert and his wife Margie, Wayne See and his wife Diane and a sister: Doris Schmitt all of Conneaut Lake, PA. She is further survived by nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Verda was preceded in death by a sister: Frances Reese and by five brothers: Joseph Anthony, Clair Anthony, Daryl Anthony, Marlin Anthony and Gene Anthony and by two nephews: David See and Carl See and a niece: Melissa (Missi) Lee See.
The family would like to give special thanks to Diane Anthony, Marilyn Boughton and Janet Worley for their support to the family. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Hospice of Crawford County, in Meadville for the care given to Verda.
Family and friends are welcome to call on Tuesday from 2 to 3 PM at the Kenneth G. Merritt Funeral Home & Crematory, 614 Baldwin Street, Meadville, PA.
Funeral services will be private and officiated by Rev. James R. Callender, Pastor of the First Church of God in Cambridge Springs. Burial will be in the Venango Cemetery.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Venango Volunteer Fire Department, Box 15, Venango, PA 16440.
