William "Bill"'s Story
William "Bill" C. Heisey, II, 86, of 11528 Livermore Rd., Meadville, passed away Friday, December 8, 2017, at Rolling Fields Eldercare Community, Conneautville.
Bill was born in McKeesport, on March 22, 1931, the only child of the late William C. and Ethel (Markle) Heisey.
He was the former husband of Eloise "Elly" Phelps, whom he wed in 1955; she survives.
In 1993 Bill retired from International Union of Operating Engineers, Local #66, where he was a heavy equipment operator. He was a 1951 graduate of McKeesport High School. On October 23, 1952 Bill entered the US Army and served his country honorably until his discharge on September 30, 1954. He was a member of both Cambridge Springs American Legion Post #381 and VFW Post #2006 where he was a member of the Color Guard, presenting honors for more than 600 funerals. His hobbies included collecting antique tractors and restoring Farmall tractors.
Bill is survived by four children Darlene Straw of Greenville, William Heisey III, Robert "Bob" Heisey and his companion Lynda both of Meadville, Markle Heisey and his companion Sharleen of Conneautville, ten grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, his best friend Jim Jordan "Bubba" of Meadville who was like a son to him and his faithful dog, Pee Wee.
He was preceded in death by a son Jeffrey Heisey and a son in law Douglas Straw.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday from 2:30-4:00 at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where a Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 PM with Phillip Thomas of Bible Baptist Church officiating. Full Military Honors by VFW Post #2006 will follow.
Bill will be laid to rest in Evergreen Cemetery. Harmonsburg.
