Dennis M. Williams, age 67, of Liberty St., Jamestown passed away Saturday evening 9-23-17 in his residence after a battle with cancer. He was born in Greenville on July 5, 1950 a son of Elmer and Pearl (Weimert) Williams. He was a 1968 graduate of Jamestown High School and in 1969 received his computer programming degree from Youngstown Technological Institute. On August 29, 1974 in Reno, NV Denny married the former Linda McCartney, she survives. He attended Jamestown Presbyterian Church. Denny served his country for 6 years in the United States Navy RM 2nd class. Stationed in Hawaii as part FOCCPAC operations he was on the USS Enterprise and was part of the Vietnam Evacuation. He was a truck driver for 35 years and had worked for Nick Strimbu Inc. until his retirement in 2012. In 1998 he received driver of the year. Denny was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and a little league coach and umpire. He was a commander of Jamestown VFW # 5424 and a member of the Honor Guard. He is survived by his wife of Jamestown; a son; Wade Williams and his wife Sarah of Powhatan, Va, a daughter; Wendy Eads and her husband Jason of Brentwood, TN, and three grandchildren; Katelyn Williams, Garner Eads, and Leia Eads. He was preceded in death by his parents and three infant brothers. The family would like to thank the VA Hospital Staff and Asera Care Hospice.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday 9-28-17 in Loutzenhiser-Randall Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 416 Liberty St., Jamestown with Rev. Paul Leone, officiating. Jamestown Veterans Honor Guard Post # 5424 will render military honors at the conclusion of the service. Friends may call the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday 9-27-17.
