Eileen's Story

Text size

Eileen M. Simcheck, 85, of 25521 Henry Road, Cambridge Springs, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2017, at home, surrounded by loved ones and friends. Eileen was born at home, on Mackey Hill Road, Union City, on May 9, 1932, a daughter of the late John Paul and Iva Mae (Brown) Blakeslee. On July 29, 1949, Eileen married George P. Simcheck; he survives. She was a member of First Church of God, Cambridge Springs. Eileen loved being a homemaker. She took great pride in keeping a neat and clean home, baking and cooking for her family. Although being a homemaker came easy to her, she was a hard worker all of her life. She did whatever work was needing done on the family farm, including milking cows and operating farm equipment. She was also sure to keep her family or anyone who worked on the farm well fed. Her family credits her for their own personal drive and success; she would not allow them to give up on any task. A simple and humble woman, Eileen would think nothing of putting her life on hold to take care of anyone or everyone. Her deep love of her children, her grandchildren or anyone else's children was second to none. She enjoyed watching and baby-sitting children, gladly helping Theresa baby-sit whenever she had the opportunity. As for her family, she had unconditional love and compassion for all young children. Eileen also enjoyed going to church, shopping, attending family picnics by the pond and driving the truck during hunting season. Eileen will be remembered for how much she loved to love her family. She will be deeply missed. In addition to her husband George of 68 years, Eileen is survived by three sons George Simcheck, David Simcheck and his wife Andrea, Stephen Simcheck and his wife Theresa all of Cambridge Springs, four grandchildren Jeremy Simcheck and his wife Abigail, Travis Simcheck and his wife Ashley, Stephen Simcheck, Zachary Simcheck, five great grandchildren Nicholas, Mason, Addison, Katelyn and Wyatt Simcheck, a daughter in law Linda J. Simcheck of Saegertown, two sisters Joyce Douglas and her husband Carl, Mary DeVore and her husband Norman (Butch) both of Cambridge Springs, her best friend of 60 years, Alice Humes, also known as "Gram", many nieces and nephews. Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, a son Mark E. Simcheck, a sister Mildred Hughes, four brothers Hugh, Robert, Richard and John Blakeslee. Funeral Services, including a brief time of sharing and remembering the life of Eileen, will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Church of God, 634 Venango Ave., Cambridge Springs, with Rev. James Callender, Pastor, officiating. Eileen will be laid to rest in Cambridge Springs Upper Cemetery. Because of her deep love of children and bird watching, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to purchase children's books pertaining to birds at either Cambridge Springs Public Library, 158 McClellan St., Cambridge Springs, PA 16403 or Penncrest School District, 18079 Mook Road, Saegertown, PA 16433 to purchase young children's bird books for either Saegertown Elementary School or Cambridge Springs Elementary School.
