Ethel Jane Hammond, age 95, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 17, 2017, at the Edinboro Manor, after a brief illness.
Ethel was born on February 15, 1922 in New Florence, PA. The daughter of the late Jane Marie and Samuel Alton Grove.
In 1947, Ethel married the love of her life, Glenn Hammond, after meeting at the Carnation Milk Plant where they were both employed. They settled in Cambridge Springs, where she later worked at the Riverside Inn and various other hotels in the area as a server. Her main focus was always on her family.
In addition to raising their two children, she was a ferocious Pittsburgh Steelers fan and proudly served her family many homemade meals and her specialty of cherry pie.
Ethel was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Cambridge Springs.
Ethel is survived by her husband, Glenn of 70 years, daughter, Nancy Hammond Rovin of Edinboro; and a son, Keith Hammond of Erie, granddaughters, Jessica of Park City, Utah, and Samantha of Denver, Colorado, grandson Justin Lubman of Buffalo, NY, six nephews and four nieces.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Byron Grove and two sisters, Marilyn Culbertson and Gail Wagoner.
Family and Friends may call on Tuesday from 6-8 PM at the Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral & Crematory, 614 Baldwin Street, Meadville, PA 16335, or on Wednesday from 1-3 PM at the United Presbyterian Church, 338 South Main Street, Cambridge Springs, PA 16403; followed by a funeral service at 3 PM; with the Reverend Tommy O'Leary Pastor, officiating. A graveside service will be held immediately following the service at Miller Station Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent in her name to the Bethesda Home for Children, 15487 State Highway 86, Meadville, PA 16335.
