Leora's Story

Leora J. Durfee Smith, 92, of Saegertown went home to be with the Lord, Thursday October 12, 2017 at Meadville Medical Center. She was born June 15, 1925 in Conneaut, OH to the late Harry R. and Edla Fails Blood.
Leora was a homemaker and after raising her family she went to work as a caregiver at the old Heasters Home and worked as a private duty caregiver. She lived on a dairy farm West of Conneautville, PA. During these years she attended United Church of Beaver Center and later, upon moving to Meadville, PA, she worshipped at Meadville Alliance Church. She enjoyed her many shopping trips and vacations she took with her daughter Beverly over the years. A special highlight of the last couple of years has been visits from her great-granddaughter Remi. Leora could always be heard saying, Ive had a good life and I wouldnt have changed a thing.
She will be dearly missed by her family including three children, Beverly J. Lasher of Erie, Harold (Judy) Durfee, Jr., and Russell Durfee all of Conneautville, seven grandchildren, Angela Brine, Mark, Andrew, Tara, Lisa, George and Samantha Durfee, three great-grandchildren, Taylor, Savannah, and Remington, a great-great-grandson, Cole, and five siblings, Helen Funk, Ida Tobin, Jean Fleek, Betty Ball, Mark Miller, and Harold Blood.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by husbands Harold Durfee, Sr. and Stanley Smith, three children Paul and David Durfee and Alice Blood, a grandson Samuel Durfee, and siblings Nelson, Harry Jr., Kenneth, Doris Wamsley,
Friends and family are invited to call on Monday, October 16, 2017 from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at 12:00 Noon at McCauley Funeral Home, Pastor Bob Klingler will officiate. Interment will be private. All arrangements have been entrusted to McCauley Funeral Home, 1405 Main St. Conneautville, PA 16406.
