Oleta "Sue"'s Story

Oleta "Sue" Farmer, 81, of Meadville, passed away on May 12, 2017 after an extended illness. She was born at Meadville City Hospital to Carl G. and Eliza Jane Dempsey Johnson and was later raised by John "Hank" and Dorothy "Dot" Dempsey. She was a 1955 graduate of Meadville High school and married Larry Farmer in 1957.
Sue was a machine operator at Talon Inc., until her retirement. She grew up riding horses and loved going to the Crawford County Fair to socialize and support her family in 4H. Throughout her life she spent time traveling the East coast and made seven trips to Florida and back by motorcycle with her husband. She loved to collect recipes and spent the summers canning from the garden. In later years, she took up crochet and made afghan blankets. Sue also loved rummage and garage sales and cared for several rescue cats at her home. She was a devoted grandmother who cared deeply for all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by children Mark Farmer (& Katrina Griswold), Terri Rodgers (& Jack Rodgers), Tracy Babbitt (& Brian Williams); grandchildren Melissa McCracken (& Michael McCracken), Heather Farmer, Drake Williams; great-grandchildren William and Natalie McCracken; nephews J.J. Kaye (& Quinn Kaye), Trevor Kaye (& Tina Kaye); sister Darlene Kaye; brothers Joe "Sonny" Kaye (& Rhonda Kaye), Jerry Kimmel (& Jenny Kimmel), Fred Linz, William Kimmel (& Jean Kimmel) as well as many members of a large extended family.
She was preceded in death by granddaughter Nicole Kuhta; sisters Dodi Carpenter, Beverly Kimmel; brother Donald Kimmel as well as several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 20, 11:00 a.m. at Presbyterian Church of the Redeemer, 16864 Conneaut Lake Road Meadville, officiated by Tina Kaye.
