Robert (Bob)'s Story
Robert (Bob) N. Beck, age 75, of Venango passed away on Monday, May 8, 2017 at Meadville Medical Center. He was born April 12, 1942, in Meadville, PA the eldest child to the late Norbert Beck and Mildred Merritt Beck. He married Sharon Allen Perrin on March 5, 1983. She survives.
Bob graduated from Cambridge Springs High School. He completed a five year apprentice with Local #333 in Erie. He retired in 1999 as a steamfitter with Local #449, Pittsburgh, PA.
He was veteran of the Vietnam War having served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Constellation from May 29, 1961 until he was Honorably Discharged to the United States Naval Reserve on May 18, 1965, having earned the rank of MM2 (E5) on June 25, 1964. Bob was a Life Member of the American Legion and the DAV. He was a 44 year member of the Cambridge American Legion, a Charter Member of the James D. Bowers VFW Post #169, Venango. Bob had coached Little League baseball, was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and a member of the Knight Rider Ski Club. He had served a number of years on the Venango Borough Council and had served on the Borough's Zoning Board. Bob loved fishing and his boat, where he spent a lot of time with his friends and family on fishing outings especially with his brother Charlie. You would also find him expressing his thoughts and concerns on Facebook.
In addition to his wife of 34 years, Sharon Beck of Venango, Bob is survived by two sons: Bart Beck and his wife Jill of Edinboro, PA, and Chad Perrin and his wife Megan of Lynden, WA, two daughters: Shawn Zangrilli of Conneautville, and Rochelle Bell and her husband Lonnie of Daytona, Florida, ten grandchildren: Sydney Beck, Edinboro, PA, Preston Perrin, Giselle Perrin, Liam Perrin, Emma Perrin all of Lynden, WA, Jennifer Bell, Cambridge Springs, Michael Wenner, Deltona, FL, Kari Miller, Nikol Miller and David Miller all of Girard, PA, four great-grandchildren, his sisters and brothers: Mildred Frontz and her husband Leroy of Cambridge Springs, James Beck and his wife Ginger of Cambridge Springs, Linda Hanson and her husband Raymond of Saegertown, Charles Beck and his wife Janice of Cambridge Springs, Janet Mascitti and her husband Frank of Meadville, William Beck and his significant other Christine Roberts of Conneautville, Patrick Beck and his wife Jill of Cambridge Springs, and Diana Beck of Venango. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded in death by a brother, Bernard Joseph Beck.
Family and friends may call on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at the James D. Bowers VFW Post 169, Social Hall entrance, 20628 Gospel Hill Road, Venango, PA 16440. All are welcome to attend the funeral service on Friday at 11 AM at the VFW Post 169, officiated by Rev. Benjamin Travis of Trinity Lutheran Church, Meadville.
Interment will be at Venango Cemetery, with full military honors presented by the Erie-Crawford Burial Detail.
