Shirley Marie Lilly, age 76, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 5, 2017 at her residence, 19048 State Highway #86, Saegertown, PA, where she and her husband had lived for the past 56 years. She had battled with cancer for the past two years. Born on March 19, 1941 in Meadville, PA, Shirley was a daughter of Drexel and Elouise Siverling Colvin. She married Alton William "Bill" Lilly on August 15, 1959 and he survives.
A 1959 graduate of Cambridge Springs High School, Shirley worked at Peterson's Golden Dawn in Cambridge Springs for 10 years and then at John & Larry's Shur Fine Grocery in Edinboro followed by her employment at Giant Eagle in Edinboro, retiring in 2008. She had most recently been working at Saegertown Dairy Inn. Shirley enjoyed bowling and spending time with her family and friends and being in the company of her co-workers and customers.
Surviving Shirley in addition to her husband, Alton William "Bill" Lilly are five children - Daniel A. Lilly (Lori) of Venango; Cindy M. Vroman of Meadville; James A. Lilly of Saegertown; Gary L. Lilly (Tammy) of Saegertown; and Michael "Mick" W. Lilly (Christine) of Meadville; eleven grandchildren - Amy Cross (Evan), Stacy Lilly, Jennifer Lilly, Adam Lilly, Antonjia Dunlap, Christy Lilly, Courtney Lilly, Elizabeth Lilly, William Lilly, Corey Lilly (Cari), and Lindsey Lilly. She also is survived by two great granddaughters - Sophia Lilly and Madelynn Ream; two brothers - Dale Colvin (Ann) and Ronald Colvin (Tori), and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and step grandchildren. Shirley was preceded in death by a son-in-law - Ty Vroman who died in 2015 and two brothers - Gordon Colvin and Larry Colvin.
Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs on Monday, May 8th from 2-4 and 6-8 and are invited to funeral services there on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. with pastors of the Gravel Run Presbyterian Church Rose Hillard and Cheryl Larson officiating. Burial will be in Venango Cemetery.
