Walter John Bailly, 81 of Cochranton, died suddenly, Friday, August 18, 2017 at his residence. He was born at the homestead on August 21, 1935, a son of Ernest E. and Mary R. Kuglar Bailly. He married Marlene Scott on October 5, 1968 and she survives.
Walt was a 1954 graduate of Cochranton High School and also served with the US Air Force for 4 years and was honorably discharged on October 10, 1962.
He was a lifelong farmer, originally with dairy cattle and later with beef cattle. For 38 years he worked at the Bessemer/Erie Railroad in Greenville and retired in 1998. After retirement he worked for the Area Shopper and also Affordable Fashions.
Along with his wife he attended the Sandy Lake Christian and Missionary Alliance Church and he kept busy woodworking and spending time with friends.
In addition to his wife of 48 years he is survived by two sons, Jonathan Bailly and his wife Katherine of Indiana and Douglas Bailly and his wife Heather of Baltimore, Maryland. Four grandchildren, Joshua Price, James Bailly, Joseph Bailly and Isaac Bailly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, William E. Bailly and Floyd I. Bailly and an infant son, Walter Scott Bailly.
Friends and family will be received at the DICKSON FAMILY FUNERAL HOME INC., 123 S. Franklin St., Cochranton on Tuesday, August 22, from 5:00pm until 8:00pm and also on Wednesday from 10:00am until 11:00 am when funeral services will begin with the Pastor Pat Confer of the Sandy Lake Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, officiating.
Interment will be in Hadley Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Cochranton American Legion Post #836.
