Ernul, NC - Alelia A. Koontz, 86, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2026, at her home in North Carolina.
She was born July 8, 1939, in Guys Mills, PA, a daughter of Steve and Mary (Pinak) Footskulak. She married Stanley E. Koontz Sr. in 1972 and he preceded her in death in 2000.
Alelia attended Randolph East Mead High School. She worked as a cook/waitress at Ricci's Restaurant. However her primary career was a homemaker. She enjoyed card games, puzzles, word searches, playing bingo, lottery scratch offs, and reading The Meadville Tribune. She was a fantastic baker; everyone enjoyed her pies and cookies.
Survivors include two children, Stanley Koontz of New Bern, N.C., and Joseph Koontz of New Bern, N.C.; one sister, Helen Warner of Florida; three stepchildren, Barbara Hawkins and her husband, Charles, Wanda Lantz and Bonnie Whitmore, all from Meadville; and many grandchildren, including Layla, Julia, Alexa, Parker from North Carolina, Susan, Jamie, Donald, Amanda, and Michelle.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Ferd and Steve Footskulak; six sisters, Margaret Footskulak, Elizabeth Mason, Vendy Prenatt, Grace Thomas, Clara Foster and Martha Footskulak; and two grandchildren, Stacey Riordan and Kenneth Riordan.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, July 10, 2026, from 5-7 p.m. at Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home at 614 Baldwin Street, Meadville, PA.
A private burial service will be held at Union Cemetery.
