Alice L. Smith
Alice L. Smith, 85 of Carlton, died Friday, August 31, 2018 at the Meadville Medical Center. Born, September 26, 1932 in Geneva, she was the daughter of James R. and Alice E. Johnson Ash. She married Ronald W. Smith on February 10, 1951 and he preceded her in death on March 1, 2004.
Alice was a 1950 graduate of Cochranton High School and was a proud homemaker.
She was an excellent cook and baker, was an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting, sewing, oil painting, gardening, canning and cake decorating. She also had a ceramics shop with her daughter Karen and loved to sit on the porch with her dog and read.
For over 62 years she was a member of the Milledgeville Presbyterian Church, where she served as an elder, Sunday School Superintendent, sang in the Choir and also played the piano and organ.
Her family was her biggest priority and she enjoyed having all the relatives at her house for family reunions.
Survivors include her children, Sandra Blakely of Carlton, Garland (Terp) Smith of Carlton, Karen Free and her husband Charles of Carlton and Linda Straub and her husband Chick of Powell, Wyoming.
Grandchildren, Kimberly Shell, Amir Momazyez and wife Barbara, Maryam Bopp and husband Nate, Melissa Porter and husband Matt, and Jay Straub and wife Wendy. Great grandchildren, Mira and Madelyn Momazyez, Ashley Kohl and Layla Bopp a brother, James Ash of Franklin and her rescue dog, Bambi.
Friends and family will be received at the DICKSON FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, INC., 123 S. Franklin St., Cochranton on Sunday, from 3:00pm until 6:00pm. The funeral will be 10:00am Monday at the Milledgeville Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Brian Ennis, officiating.
Interment will be in the Bell Cemetery.
Memorials can be made in Alice's name to the Milledgeville Presbyterian Church
