Barbara Alice Torbjornsen Obituary

Barbara Alice Torbjørnsen of Cambridge Springs, PA, died on November 27, 2023, after a brief illness.

Born to Edward and Alice Alford in Jersey City, NJ on May 7, 1939, Barbara was raised in Chatham, NJ and attended Culver Stockton College before returning to New Jersey working as a bank teller.

During a weekend evening at the local ice skating rink, she met Hans Torbjørnsen an engineer from Oslo, Norway. They married after a short courtship on June 29, 1968.

Known to be constantly on-the-go, she touched many people, in many walks of life, in many places. Barbara died with a drawer full of stamped passports and a shop-worn and tattered library card, which isn't a poor measurement of a life by any means.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Hans, her daughter, Karen of New York City and son Einar of Cambridge Springs.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Meadville Public Library online at https://
