Colleen (Cole) R Siems Obituary

Ocala, FL - With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Colleen (Cole) Siems, formerly of Saegertown, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, who left this world peacefully on July 14, 2025, in Ocala, Florida. Born on May 16, 1957, in Meadville, Pennsylvania, Colleen's life was a testament to her spirit of adventure and her unwavering commitment to helping others.

Colleen's journey of learning took her from Saegertown High School to Edinboro University, where she earned both a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Bachelor of Science in Geology. Her quest for knowledge continued at Reformed Theological Seminary, culminating in a Master of Arts in Theological Studies. This foundation of education not only shaped her understanding of the world but also fueled her passionate endeavors throughout her life.

In pursuit of her dreams and a desire to serve, Colleen joined the Peace Corps, embarking on a transformative assignment to the beautiful island of Yap in the South Pacific. Her journey didn't stop there; she managed a group home for intellectually challenged children in Erie, Pennsylvania, served as a missionary in Eastern Europe, and stood steadfast as a devoted Army wife for 23 years, skillfully managing 17 relocations with grace and resilience.

Colleen's love for travel was boundless. She visited over 35 countries and all but two states in the U.S., capturing the essence of her adventures through meticulous scrapbooking and photo journals that celebrate the lives of those she cherished. Her interests extended to her passion for animals; she adored her poodles and took delight in visiting zoos globally, nurturing her love for all creatures great and small.

Colleen leaves behind her devoted husband, Leonard R. Siems of Ocala, FL, her son Albert "Rich" Siems from Helendale, CA, sisters Julie K. (Cole) Sloat (Joe) of Ocala, FL, and Polly(anna) S. (Cole) Nelson (Jeremy) of Littleton, CO, as well as her brother-in-law Stefan P. Siems (Melissa) of Siloam Springs, AR. She is also remembered with love by her grandchildren: Josue Mendoza, Omar Mendoza, Marisol Mendoza, and Max Garibay, and countless nephews, nieces, and friends whose lives she touched deeply.

In honor of Colleen's love for animals, the family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to your local zoological society.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard G. and Vora L. Cole of Saegertown, Pennsylvania.

As we remember Colleen, let us celebrate her remarkable spirit, love of adventure, and the indelible mark she left on our hearts. Her legacy will continue in the stories we share, the animals she cherished, and the love she so freely gave.
