Greenville, PA - DeWayne P. Horne, 93, passed away September 30, 2025 at St. Paul's Heritage Serenity Circle, where he lived since June 2025. He was born July 6, 1932, at home in East Fallowfield Township to Vere and Thedeth Gruber Horne.
DeWayne attended Fallowfield School and graduated class of 1950 from Pymatuning Joint High School (now Jamestown).
DeWayne married Joan Nesbitt, the mother of his children, April 4th, 1952. Joan preceded him in death on September 11, 1995. He subsequently married Mary Courtney Horne on November 7, 1997, she survives.
DeWayne dearly loved family, attending activities of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, attending family gatherings, reunions, and friendships of former classmates.
DeWayne was a born-again Christian, having been a church member all his life. He served on various committees at Fallowfield Methodist Church and was an active member of the Sunshine Crusaders Sunday School class. In more recent years, he attended the Jamestown Methodist Church.
DeWayne worked his entire life as a true farmer, encompassing dairy, pigs, sheep, and beef. In his younger years, he helped his father on the dairy farm, including farming, custom crop work, and hauling milk for their milk hauling business. He hauled 10-gallon metal milk cans of milk to the Otto Suburban Dairy in Adamsville, Pa. to be shipped to Pittsburgh for sale. DeWayne and Joan helped to start the 4-H Market Livestock Sale at the Crawford County Fair and served many hours and years in that endeavor.
DeWayne was employed early on as a truck driver for W.L. Dunn. He later worked for Ted Altmire as a painter, painting both commercial buildings and homes. He worked as a painter part time for TA Shearer. He worked at the Damascus Tubes for many years, leaving the factory to ultimately fulfill his lifelong dream of farming full time with his sons, Dean and Ivan.
DeWayne served many years as a director for the Rocky Glen Cemetery. He was a 50-year member of the Atlantic Grange and Fallowfield IOOF Lodge. He was also a member of the Crawford Pomona, Pennsylvania State Grange and National Grange.

Dean Horne, son, and wife Esther; Denise Morian, daughter, and husband Gary Morian; Ivan Horne, son, and wife Carol; Irene Anderson, daughter, and husband Rob. Step children, Carol Howard, Donna Brown and husband Ron, Terry Schlosser and husband Dale, Tom Courtney and wife Cathie, and Bob Courtney.
Sister-in-law Evelyn Horne, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Homer and Maxine Hart.
Grandchildren Adam Horne, and wife Stacey (Josh, Alex, Ronan, Henry, Zeke); Sarah Schwartz and husband Tyler (Owen, Wesley); Matt Horne and companion Lacey Harrington; Cash Horne and wife Kendra; Michelle Morian, Rose Morian and husband Cody Wise; Marshall Horne, Hannah Horne, Blake Horne and wife Courtney (Markie); Mason Horne, Gwen Anderson Waddell, Nathan Anderson, Audrey Haag and husband Jon, and Gladys Anderson. Twelve step grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and 2 cousins, Linda Myers and Wade Horne.
Preceded in death by parents Vere and Thedeth Horne, mother-in-law Gladys Nesbitt; siblings A. Lorraine Hall, Vera Lee Porter, Leland Horne; Brother-in-law and wife, Lewis Nesbitt and Rose; niece Patty Kepple and nephew Jeff Hall, nephew-in-law Dave Wilds.
Friends and family will be received at the DICKSON FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, INC., Cochranton on Friday, October 3, 2025 from 2-4 and 7-9. The funeral service is on Saturday at Rocky Glen Cemetery at 11:00am.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made in DeWayne's name to the Christian Farmers International, 1833 S. Burdick St., Kalamazoo, Michigan, 49001.
