Dolores M. Troutner
Dolores graduated from Sparta High School in 1951. She attended Ora Jean Beauty Academy in Erie and got her PA license as a beauty operator. She was employed at Trasks Dept Store in Erie and in a private beauty salon in Pittsburgh. She also worked in the office of the Area Supply Company in Corry and the office and print shop of the Westfield Republican in Westfield, NY. She operated her own beauty shop in Ripley, NY. She was probably best known locally for her contribution in music. At the age of 14 she joined a country western band, as the girls singer, and was known as the Sunset Sweetheart. She played the accordion and was 10 years old when she played for her first dance and was 60 when she retired from playing publicly. In those 50 years, she played for dances, weddings and other events in several local bands, both in NY State and PA. In 2005 she won an inductee of the year award, in recognition of her contribution to country music.
She was a quilt maker and made and sold quilts at auctions. Also made several for her family. But her greatest devotion was to her family, which meant everything to her.
Dolores is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, Paul Troutner, of New Richmond; three daughters, Melody Mokwa; Paula Warren and Lori Meyer and her husband Fred; 9 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews, her sister Joanne Warren and her beloved dog Molly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Claire and Dorothy Lindsey.
