Earl D. Lang
Earl Lang, 87, of Cochranton, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at Pennsylvania Soldier and Sailors Home, Erie, PA. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on October 31, 1931, a son of George and Veronica Grief Lang. He married Elizabeth Ganster on October 30, 1954 and she preceded him in death on October 24, 2016
Earl served in the United States Navy from November 1, 1951 until his honorable discharge in November 1959. He served active duty four years during the Korean War. He also served three years aboard ship and five years reserve. He was employed by HJ Heinz Company as a maintenance mechanic from November 15, 1955 until his retirement on November 23, 1986. Earl was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
He is survived by his daughter: Veronica Richter and her husband Larry of Cochranton, PA, son: Gerald Lang and his wife Phyllis of Glenshaw, PA, and daughter: Deborah Stearns and her husband Larry of Guys Mills, PA He is also survived by his sister Dorothy Saxton of Houston, TX.; seven grandsons, and six great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Earl was preceded in death by his parents, a son: Daniel Lang, a great grandson: Jayce Robert Richter, four sisters: Virginia Fox, Mary Catherine Simon, Elsie Bostard, and Vera Olsson and three brothers: Robert, George, and Raymond Lang.
Friends and family will be received at Dickson Family Funeral Home, 123 South Franklin St, Cochranton, PA on Friday, August 30, 2019 from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00am on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Rev. Daniel Prez as Celebrant. A scripture service will be at the funeral home on Friday at 8:45pm.
Interment will be in Cochranton Cemetery with military honors by Cochranton American Legion. The family would like to especially thank Juniper Village and Soldier and Sailors Home for the wonderful care and kindness shown for Earl. Memorial contributions can be made to Juniper Village, 455 Chestnut Street, Meadville, PA 16335 or Pennsylvania Soldier and Sailors Home, 560 East Third Street, Erie, PA 16507.
