Fred J. Taylor
Fred J. Taylor, 75, of Albion, passed away Friday, January 18, 2019 at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point in Hudson, FL. He was born in Albion on April 12, 1943, a son of the late Wayne and Wilma (Ingold) Taylor. Fred graduated from Albion High School in 1961. He then received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Edinboro University. He was an elementary school teacher in the Conneaut School District, mostly Conneaut Valley Elementary School, for 37 years. He was a member of, and very active in, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church where he was a Lector and Secretary of the Church Council. He was also a member of the Albion Library Board and played in a Bridge Club. He was a passionate bird watcher, and most people would agree he was an expert when it came to birds. Fred enjoyed gardening, collecting stamps and coins, and travelling, most notably his mission trips to Paraguay. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Carol Taylor. He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Marilyn (King) Taylor, whom he married September 11, 2004, a sister, Billie Messmer and her husband, Bert, of Edinboro, two brothers, Wayne Taylor Jr. and his wife, Carol, of Cambridge Springs, David Taylor and his wife, Judi, of Deming, NM, and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held at the Mattera Funeral Home, 188 East State Street, Albion, on Sunday from 1pm to 4pm. A funeral service will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 80 Third Ave., Albion, on Monday at 1:30pm with Rev. R. Blaine Jorg officiating. Burial will follow in Albion Cemetery.
