Gladys L. Karns
Gladys L. Karns, 90, formerly of Cochranton, died Friday, September 13, 2019 at the Crawford County Care Center in Saegertown. Born February 3, 1929 in Cochranton, she was the daughter of Willard R. and Ethel Davis Taylor. She married Gaylord Karns on November 10, 1949 and he preceded her in death on November 23, 2000.
She graduated from Cochranton High School and worked at Morco for several years.
Gladys was a member of the former St. Peter and Paul's Church in Pettis and attended Our Lady of Lourdes in Cochranton. She was considered as "Grandma Gladys" to the many children that she babysat and was always willing to help anyone in need.
Survivors include her daughter Bonita Walker and her husband Andy of Meadville and her son G. Bruce Karns and his wife Rhonda of Cochranton. A sister, Alberta Greathouse and her husband Wilbur of Meadville and a brother Larry Taylor and his wife Barb of Johnstown. Six grandchildren, Jason Walker (Stacey), Justin Walker, Jordan Walker, Jerad Karns, Jennifer Shearer (Nick) and Jesse Karns (Bree) and 8 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, a son Brian Karns, 4 sisters, Emma Mae West, Edith Cunningham, Lenora Mailliard, and Lucille Stephens, a brother Williard Taylor.
Friends will be received at the DICKSON FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, INC., 123 S. Franklin St., Cochranton on Sunday from 4:00pm until 7:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00am Monday at Our lady of Lourdes Church with the Rev. Daniel Prez as Celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Peter and Paul's Cemetery.
