Harry "Gene" Mason, 81, of Meadville, PA passed away peacefully at his home on Monday March 10, 2025. He was born on February 19, 1944 in Meadville, PA to the late Harry and Inis Mason. He married Gayle "Gay" Tyler on October 8, 1966.
Gene graduated from Townville High School in 1962. He attended a two-year program at Alliance College and served in the U.S. Army, Vietnam War from 1969-1971. He completed his tool and die apprenticeship at Talon and was then employed as a Journeyman at Talbar for 35 years before retiring.
He was a member of the VFW Post #2006 Color Guard and BPOE #219 Elks Lodge. He proudly served as Commander at the American Legion Post #111. He was also an avid golfer and bowler in the Tool Room League.
Gene is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Gay and their two children, Steven Mason (Nancy) of Lititz, PA and Melissa Stewart of Chippewa, PA; two grandchildren, Samuel and Shelby Stewart; his sister, Rosalind Staskiewicz (Donald) and five nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Don Tyler and one nephew.
Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday March 13, 2025 from 4-6 pm at Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home and Crematory, 614 Baldwin St., Meadville, PA 16335. A funeral service will take place at 6:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Loren Little officiating. Full military honors will be provided by VFW Post #2006.
