Meadville, PA - Helen "Lucille" McGowan, age 98, of Meadville, PA, passed away on Monday, February 23, 2026, at her home. She was born on January 28, 1928, in Meadville, PA, to the late Clifton and Eunice (Barnett) Smock. She married Paul McGowan on October 30, 1948. He preceded her in death on November 25, 2008.

Lucille was a 1946 graduate of Randolph High School. Before she got married she worked at JC Penney as a store clerk. Once she had her children, she stayed home to take care of them and the household.

She was a member of Pine Grove Grace Church. Lucille was an excellent bowler and participated in several leagues over the years. She was also in the Hailwood Ladies Golf League. She loved to travel. She especially enjoyed Alaska and going out West every fall.

Lucille is survived by her children, Diane Albaugh and her husband, David, and Jim McGowan and his wife, Jill, all of Meadville, PA; her grandchildren, Doug Kuhn, Dave Kuhn, April Bowman and her husband, Willie, and Amber Gabel and her husband, Brent; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Harriet Smock of OH, Alice McGowan of Meadville, PA, and Chris McGowan of Canadohta, PA, and her brother-in-law, Ron (Carol) McGowan of Guys Mills, PA; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Lloyd (Connie) Smock and Edgar Smock; and her sister, Elma (Dave) Ridgeway.

As per Lucille's wishes, there will be no public services.

Lucille will be laid to rest at Blooming Valley Cemetery with her husband.
