LaVaughn Bartholomew Obituary

Lexington, NC - LaVaughn Irene Boyle Bartholomew, a near 28-year resident of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away peacefully on May 31 at Forsyth Medical Center at the age of 80, after courageously enduring a two-month illness.

Born June 29, 1944, in Meadville, PA, LaVaughn was a lifelong animal lover and grew up on a small farm surrounded by horses. She married Rev. Craig E. Bartholomew in late 1964, continuing a 62-year journey that took them from Western Pennsylvania to New York and ultimately to North Carolina.

LaVaughn was known for her warmth, humor, and gift for making everyone feel welcome. She worked in both government and hospitality and was deeply involved in her church and community. Her decorated front porch became a favorite gathering place in her neighborhood.

She is survived by her beloved husband Craig; sons Christopher (Melissa) and Jason (Kristen); grandchildren Zachary (Samantha), Emily; great-granddaughter Rylee; and two cherished cats, Patch and Insty. She was predeceased by her parents and four siblings.

A service will be held June 7 at 2 p.m. at First Lutheran Church in Lexington, NC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in LaVaughn's memory, to First Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or SaddlebredRescue.com based in NJ.
