Lt. Colonel Raymond  Causa, USAF Retired
Lt. Colonel Raymond Causa, USAF Retired, 95 of Cochranton, died Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at the Meadville Medical Center. Born, November 22, 1923 in Marstellar, PA, he was the son of Peter and Rose Ossola Causa. He married Kathryn E. Karas on April 10, 1945 and she preceded him in death on October 14, 2007.
Ray enlisted into the military on September 11, 1942 as an aviation cadet and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant and became a pilot in 1943.
During his 23 years of active service, some of his assignments included: 35 combat missions with the 354th B-17 Bomb Group stationed in England, Berlin and Frankfurt Germany airlift hauling coal, Aircraft modification and maintenance in Chateauroux, France, Aircraft Inspector General Office in San Bernardino, CA. He also graduated from Ohio State University.
Ray qualified to fly the B-17, C54, C47, B25, B26, T33 and the F80 and other training aircrafts. Upon retiring in 1965 he was employed at McDonnell Douglas for 15 years in the St. Louis Procurement Office and found time to get his Master's Degree from Webster College in St. Louis.
He moved to the Cochranton Area in 1980 and spent a lot of time pursuing the little white golf ball.
He was a member of the Cochranton American Legion, and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Cochranton.
Survivors include his son Raymond M. Causa and his wife Lisa of Austin, TX, two granddaughters, Sharon and Vicki, two grandsons, Lt. Brandon Tinkham and Billy Tinkham and a sister Angeline. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by two brothers Carlo and Peter and a sister Catherine.
Friends and family will be received at the DICKSON FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, INC., 123 S. Franklin St., Cochranton, on Saturday from 2:00pm until 4:00pm, and also on Monday at the Vaia Funeral Home, 463 Athena Dr., Delmont, PA from 10:00am until 10:45 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:0am Monday at the St. John Baptist Dela Salle Church, entombment will be in Twin Valley Memorial Park Cemetery.
